Studying effectively is both an art and a science. Over the years, I’ve discovered techniques that have significantly improved my learning process. This guide combines my personal experiences with practical steps to help you study smarter, not harder.

Step 1: Build the Big Picture

Before diving into a subject, create a foundational understanding or “big picture” of what you’re about to learn. Think of it as mapping the terrain before exploring. For instance, when studying Java 21’s virtual threads, I started by identifying key terms:

  • Threads and virtuality
  • Java’s existing thread mechanisms (platform threads, CompletableFutures)
